THINGS N STUFF: Eurovision 2021: Here’s what we know so far

Come hell or high water, the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest WILL go on! The European Broadcast Union announced several weeks ago that they are running four different scenarios as planned to make sure the contest comes to pass for sure next year. The four scenarios are referred to as Normal, Social Distancing, Travel Restrictions, and Lockdown, and each have their individual points that deal with the ongoing worldwide coronavirus pandemic. The just-completed 2020 Junior Eurovision Song Contest was conducted mostly under the “travel restrictions” scenario, with one or two exceptions, using some incredibly innovative and groundbreaking live television techniques that

TKR On YouTube: TKR Rant – Snooty Eurovision Fans

Sorry you have to see this, Vinyl Community, but it has to be said – I am on a rant today about snooty Euro music fans who don’t like the fact that their beloved Eurovision Song Contest is about to have an American sister show…or American music in general….I Have Had It. I’m a huge fan of ESC, have worked my ass off promoting their songs and the contest in general to the fans in the US, and I’m tired of being told I don’t have a right to like this stuff by ESC fans who seem to think they

TKR on YouTube: To Beatle…or Not to Beatle…

OK, VC! I’m asking for help from people who know their stuff about The Beatles. I’m not very knowledgeable in things of the Beatle variety, and I’m looking for your guidance and advice on how to proceed – I’m now putting myself in your hands to be able to attend Beatles University. I made a mistake in the video – in addition to the three albums I mentioned, I actually do have two Beatles CDs that I also have on my computer – Beatles #1s, and the George Martin/Cirque De Soleil remix collab, Love, the latter of which I really

EUROVISION: The Kirkham Report presents the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest Wrapup

Well, it’s finally here….after seven weeks of countdowns and coverage, the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest season is over. Sad since it never really was to be…there are no winners in a cancelled contest….well, OFFICIAL ones, anyway…:-) But take heart – my FINAL look back at this year’s shows, a look forward at 2021 to the return of the REAL Eurovision Song Contest and the launch of the American Song Contest (knock on wood for both; hopefully no COVID-19 issues) and more – plus TWO special announcements – are all part of this year’s edition of “The Kirkham Report” Eurovision Wrap

EUROVISION – The last 2020 list – The Weird, The Wonderful, The Wacky, and the Wretched…

As I noted the other day, although I only recently started watching ESC when it first became OFFICIALLY available in the US when Logo broadcast it in 2016 (I was hooked INSTANTLY!), I’ve been aware of it for a long time, thanks to my natural love of music. The Eurovision Song Contest is a strange little show – there’s nothing quite like it anywhere else in the world, at least not until the American Song Contest premieres in 2021. It pits country against country in a battle of musical supremacy. With so many countries participating now – it’s now in
