THINGS N STUFF: Eurovision 2021: Here’s what we know so far

Come hell or high water, the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest WILL go on! The European Broadcast Union announced several weeks ago that they are running four different scenarios as planned to make sure the contest comes to pass for sure next year. The four scenarios are referred to as Normal, Social Distancing, Travel Restrictions, and Lockdown, and each have their individual points that deal with the ongoing worldwide coronavirus pandemic. The just-completed 2020 Junior Eurovision Song Contest was conducted mostly under the “travel restrictions” scenario, with one or two exceptions, using some incredibly innovative and groundbreaking live television techniques that

PREVIEW: The TKR Holiday Series – “Jingle Bell Jams” and “Christmas Countdown”

It’s almost that time of year again…in fact, it’s already here in some radio markets – Christmas music is about to take over (or already has). But have you ever noticed one incredible fact? All of these “Holiday” stations play the same OLD songs over and over again. And the biggest problem is that they almost NEVER make a NEW Christmas standard. There are TONS of great songs released every year, and if they’re EXTREMELY lucky or are by a current superstar on the charts, they MIGHT get airplay once in a while for a year or two. But unfortunately,

“Boingy Boingy Boingy!” When it was first announced about two years ago that Steven Spielberg was mounting a revival of the cult-hit animated series “Animaniacs“, Kim and I were happy…but concerned. Billboard’s “Best Boy Band Albums” list is questionable at best..

Earlier this week, Billboard published their list of the 30 best albums by boy bands over the past 30 years, and it was an interesting read. It covered four decades of boy bands with all genres, styles, and countries included…but there’s one problem with the list – not all of the bands included fall into the technical definition of “boy band”. Wikipedia gives the following definition of “boy band”: “A boy band (or boyband) is loosely defined as a vocal group consisting of young male singers, usually in their teenage years or in their twenties at the time of formation,
