TKR – The Past, The Present…and the FUTURE

So over the past several months, I’ve been really thinking about what I have always wanted my music site to be, and over the last couple of weeks, I’ve sat down and made some notes about things I want to change, things I want to upgrade, things I want to introduce and more. And I thought I’d talk a little bit about it with you. First off, I will be cleaning up the charts area of the site. I was recently looking at things, and as cool as it is to finally have (almost) all my years of personal charts

“Shop Safe” act could end up utterly destroying the online reselling community – Speak up NOW!

RED ALERT! CALL TO ACTION! If you are part of the online reseller community, or regularly make purchases online from merchants in the Discogs Marketplace (or ANY other platform that specializes in reselling), it’s time to MOBILIZE! And you CANNOT afford to take this lightly! A new bill sponsored by Rep. Gerald Nadler (D-NY), called the “Shop Safe” act, could and according to most experts on the subject WILL destroy the online sellers community as we all now know it. It’s long and confusing in places, but it focuses on burden of proof for not selling “counterfeit mark” goods, and

As you know, I began covering the long-running Eurovision Song Contest in 2017. a year after it first began screening for U.S. audiences, and have covered every year since, including massive coverage of this year’s cancelled show and all the cool specials that came out of that cancellation. Now, beginning this year, TKR’s coverage of the Eurovision franchise is expanding! Beginning November 1, TKR will launch its first-ever coverage of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. TKR’s full reboot happens July 1 – here’s a sneak peek of what’s coming

On July 1, The Kirkham Report takes the next step into our future, with a completely rebooted site. I mean, well, NO, it’s probably NOT going to look much different – I like the theme I’m using on it now, but I’ll be adding a TON of new things to the pages as we go along. What WILL be changing the most is the content – In addition to my #1 focus, my music charts and preferences, I’m going to be introducing over a dozen new featured columns, each with a particular focus. These columns will be posted every day

“CHART”-ING A COURSE FOR THE FUTURE II

Man I love bad puns, don’t I? Heh heh… Over the past week, since I made the decision to incorporated our “Planet BiblioMusica” blog here on TKR, I’ve been thinking about some stuff, and some ideas for some future columns and projects I wanted to do, and how I can make TKR a “must-see” site for music fans like myself. Stuff I would want to look at if I were a fan of music. So in addition to the original bad-pun-titled column from about 18 months ago, this is what I am thinking about… Reintroducing the “Song Of The Day”

PASSAGES: Joao Gilberto, father of Bossa Nova, dead at 88

Brazilian artist Joao Gilberto, who in the 1950s pioneered the new latin sound called bossa nova, has died at his home in Rio de Janeiro, he was 88 years old. Gilberto has often been given primary credit from many music historians as writing the first song in a new style which would later be referred to as the bossa nova, or new beat. The pioneering sound drew on Brazil’s samba tradition but was typically performed at much lower volume, and eliminating the heavy beats of drums and other percussion typically found in samba music. According to some, the jazz guitarist

IT’S FINALLY HAPPENING! The TKR Classic Charts are coming online!

You know, it has taken me almost a decade to get to this point, and I apologize for that. It’s only because I wanted to present things in the best possible way, and I’ve been trying to come up with a cool and fancy way to bring my old classic charts online. First, I thought it would be cool to reenter them on new grids with cool new logos and such…but that proved to be impossibly time consuming, especially with all I have going throughout the PNRNetworks family. Then, I thought, i’ll scan the charts in and use OCR to
