Billboard’s “Best Boy Band Albums” list is questionable at best..

Earlier this week, Billboard published their list of the 30 best albums by boy bands over the past 30 years, and it was an interesting read. It covered four decades of boy bands with all genres, styles, and countries included…but there’s one problem with the list – not all of the bands included fall into the technical definition of “boy band”. Wikipedia gives the following definition of “boy band”: “A boy band (or boyband) is loosely defined as a vocal group consisting of young male singers, usually in their teenage years or in their twenties at the time of formation,

“CHART”-ING A COURSE FOR THE FUTURE II

Man I love bad puns, don’t I? Heh heh… Over the past week, since I made the decision to incorporated our “Planet BiblioMusica” blog here on TKR, I’ve been thinking about some stuff, and some ideas for some future columns and projects I wanted to do, and how I can make TKR a “must-see” site for music fans like myself. Stuff I would want to look at if I were a fan of music. So in addition to the original bad-pun-titled column from about 18 months ago, this is what I am thinking about… Reintroducing the “Song Of The Day”

EUROVISION: The Kirkham Report presents the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest Wrapup

Well, it’s finally here….after seven weeks of countdowns and coverage, the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest season is over. Sad since it never really was to be…there are no winners in a cancelled contest….well, OFFICIAL ones, anyway…:-) But take heart – my FINAL look back at this year’s shows, a look forward at 2021 to the return of the REAL Eurovision Song Contest and the launch of the American Song Contest (knock on wood for both; hopefully no COVID-19 issues) and more – plus TWO special announcements – are all part of this year’s edition of “The Kirkham Report” Eurovision Wrap

EUROVISION – The last 2020 list – The Weird, The Wonderful, The Wacky, and the Wretched…

As I noted the other day, although I only recently started watching ESC when it first became OFFICIALLY available in the US when Logo broadcast it in 2016 (I was hooked INSTANTLY!), I’ve been aware of it for a long time, thanks to my natural love of music. The Eurovision Song Contest is a strange little show – there’s nothing quite like it anywhere else in the world, at least not until the American Song Contest premieres in 2021. It pits country against country in a battle of musical supremacy. With so many countries participating now – it’s now in

EUROVISION – TC’s Top 30 Eurovision Entries 2001-2015

As I noted the other day, although I only recently started watching ESC when it first became OFFICIALLY available in the US when Logo broadcast it in 2016 (I was hooked INSTANTLY!), I’ve been aware of it for a long time, thanks to my natural love of music. After I FINALLY got into ESC when it began airing in the U.S., I started voraciously going back through the entire history of the contest, checking out songs here and there, and finding a lot of songs that were, well, in my opinion, good but not great. Not that they were bad
